"That Dog Was My Savior" By Andrea Bunderson

"I got my little puppy baby, Lynx, the day before my 20th birthday. (December 17) At the time my dad (and best friend) was fighting a hard battle with lung cancer and quickly diminishing. I would bring Lynx over everyday and boy did he cheer my severely sick father and everyone around him right up. When dad would have to stay in the hospital a couple times, Lynx and I would go too.
The next month, January 22, 2011, my dad, best friend, hero, lost his battle with cancer peacefully at home with little pup Lynx nestled in his arms. From that day, it was Lynx and I facing the world. There wasn't anywhere I went without him.
Unfortunately, three years later Lynx was diagnosed with lymphoma. We did all the treatments we could but they were just not enough. Lynx lost his battle March 31, 2015 at just four years old. My heart will always be missing two enormous pieces.
I cannot stand when people judge based on breeds. That dog was my savior. He got me through the hardest time in my life and kept me going. There truly is something special about this breed that just doesn't compare to any other. It's like they reach deep inside your soul and mens all the broken pieces. Lynx will forever be the best dog I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. Words just don't do justice."
Thank you so much Andrea Bunderson for sharing your touching story with us.
