A Rescue Story (Customer Submitted)

Juvi was only 9 months old when I flew him back to Perth with me from Melbourne. Our house was not ready for another dog and I knew my mother would kill me if I brought home another dog but there was no way I could leave Juvi behind knowing his owners would starve and beat him.
He was a friend’s housemate’s dog and as soon as Juvi and I met we bonded straight away. He would sit next to me and not come to his owners call knowing he would be in trouble for something. I knew I had to save Juvi. The day I flew off, we both got into the taxi and never looked back.
Juvi is happy and healthy now. My mother didn’t accept him at first, scared that he’d turn out to be a dangerous and aggressive dog because he was abused and kept telling me to find him another home but now she loves him and even misses him on the nights I take him out with me.
After rescuing Juvi, I know that any other dog I get will be a rescue dog. It is so rewarding to see the happiness you can give an animal just by loving and caring for them. To know that you saved their life and see your pet happy is amazing. Juvi’s behavior has turned around completely and he has really come out of his shell from when he first came home with me.
Juvi is one of the best things to happen to me, it has been so rewarding and I know he feels the same about me.
